Tablecloth Hacks

What if your tablecloth is too long?

Problem:

Tie a decorative knot at the corners:

Trim with pinking shears:

  • Pinking shears prevent fabric from fraying.

  • Create a finished look without hemming.

  • Purchase at big box or craft stores, about $8-20.

Box Tie Your Corners:

Step 1: Grab each corner at the end of your tablecloth.

Step 2: Tie them together, in a knot. Your knot should hang near the bottom of the tablecloth. At this point it will be visible, it will hang in front of the tablecloth.

Step 3: Flip the knot behind the hanging tablecloth, so it's no longer visible. Just pull the tablecloth through. It's now hiding underneath the table. Good job!

Tuck it In:

Step 1: Pinch the corner and bring it to the opposite edge of the table. Don't let it slip while you work. Keep your finger on the opposite corner.

Step 2: Flatten the cloth beneath and atop the layer you created. Smooth out any wrinkles you may have created.

Step 3: Hold down the corner again, as in step 1. Pick up the top layer of the cloth from the edge of the table and return it to where it came from.

When complete, the extra fabric is tucked in at the end of your table. Good job, you!
